Item Description

Some of the most noteworthy rhodochrosites from Ouray County are those from the Grizzly Bear Mine. This excellent thumbnail hosts a rich cluster of sharp, translucent, well-formed simple rhombohedra of reddish-pink rhodochrosite on quartz matrix. A choice specimen from this famous locality that was reopened in the 1980s in the Ouray Amphitheater when the Zanett Tunnel was driven to reconnect with the Grizzly Bear Mine on northwest slopes of Engineer Mountain.
