Item Description

Pyroxmangite is a fairly simple, yet fairly rare manganese silicate from the famous Sunnyside Mine in Colorado. This showy piece is a rare combination of pyroxmangite, rhodochrosite and sulfides. The knobby specimen is mostly pastel-pink rhodo rhombs, with the lustrous, translucent, rose-red, pyroxmangite blades encircled around the very well-placed pod of sulfides. The pyroxmangite is especially prominent in the bottom-center. Ex Harold Urish Collection and acquired in 1992. The pyroxmangite ID and mine level were confirmed by Colorado specialist Barbara Muntyan in 2000.
