Item Description

A striking, fluted and layered combination specimen from the famous Eagle Mine of Colorado. The impressive flutes on the top and bottom are composed of tightly intergrown, lustrous and translucent, flattened, pastel-pink, rhodochrosite rhombs. The center of the "sandwich" layering consists of lustrous, hematite-rich sphalerite variety marmatite crystals. Intensely sparkly, brassy, pyrites cover the top, with pockets of tiny quartz crystals and layered rhodochrosite on the bottom. I particularly like the hoppered pocket on one side lined with lustrous sphalerite crystals. A very nifty combination specimen from this famous mine from the Harold Urish Collection and acquired at the Flagg Show in Phoenix in 2002. It looks like a ship with a superstructure.
