Item Description

A really attractive and rarely seen pseudomorph of soft golden-brown colored Rhodochrosite which has replaced a broad triclinic crystals of Serandite which is associated with small vitreous colorless crystals of the rare sodium zirconium silicate Gaidonnayite, for which this quarry is the type locality. The Poudrette Quarry at Mont Saint-Hilaire is one of the most prolific localities in the world, producing over 400 mineral species (it's the type locality for 69 mineral species!) and some of the most unique mineral specimens in the world. These Rhodochrosite pseudomorphs after Serandite are only found at this locality, and are quite rare in their own right. If you collect pseudomorphs, these are a must-have as few are ever available on the market, and now that collecting is quite difficult at this locality due to new ownership, you may never seen them again.
