The Capillitas Mine in Argentina is world-famous for producing a tremendous amount of fine quality stalactitic Rhodochrosites. These iconic and distinctive specimens feature beautiful red and pink color banding, but rarely is the material gemmy enough for faceting, so most of it is either sliced or cabbed. With that said, this is a beautiful polished slice that shows a mixture of rich pink to pale pink and virtually white hues, showing how the material grew in bands/layers. With strong backlighting, the pink hue glows inside. A lovely piece of these well-known classic Rhodos. Specimen weight is 44.4 grams.
