Item Description

Two beautiful facet-like "eyes" of pretty pastel-pink, lustrous, translucent rhodochrosite rhombs are aesthetically set on matrix on this cute and classic thumbnail from the famous finds at the Potosi Mine at Santa Eulalia. Ex Bill Panczner Collection and acquired in the 1960s to 1980s. The piece is from the award winning competition thumbnails of Bill and his wife Sharon, exhibited widely in the 1960s and into the 1970s. Bill was the first Curator of Earth Science at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in 1974 and the author of the 1987 book Minerals of Mexico. It is the most thorough summary of the subject.
