Item Description

The famous Sunnyside Mine in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado has produced some very well known Rhodochrosite specimens, which are only second behind the Rhodos from the Sweet Home Mine. This wonderful small cabinet piece hosts attractive, compressed rhombs or "disc"-like crystals of soft pink colored Rhodochrosite measuring up to 1.1 cm across sitting on a plate of crystallized Quartz. The piece is in superb condition all over, with no major damage that I can find, only a few small imperfections. The most significant aspect of the piece is the fact that it's a complete "floater" as it's crystallized on every side, and I can't find a point of contact or attachment anywhere. It is RARE to find a "floater" plate like this from the Sunnyside. An eye-catching specimen for any collector of Rhodochrosites or specimens from Colorado from this well known mine in southwestern Colorado.
