Item Description
The quality of Chinese rhodochrosite from the Wudong Mine keeps getting better and better and this is an excellent example. This impressive piece features a huge, 7.6 cm wide, translucent, cherry-red, rhodochrosite rhomb very jauntily perched on starkly contrasting snow-white quartz with smaller rhodos. The bottom of the piece is very richly covered with sparkly, brassy, pyrite crystals. The frontal display faces of the huge rhomb and secondary rhomb on the front are in super shape, with only trivial edgewear on the left corner. The back of the jumbo, we believe, is contacted on the top and cleaved on the bottom, but even so, is mightily impressive and shows the scale of this very large rhodo. The two UNRETOUCHED backlit photos really highlight the gorgeous cherry-red color and crystal translucency. A Sweet Home of this size would easily be 5 figures. A large, very highly representative Wudong rhodo in excellent shape. Valued at $1250-1500.
