Rhodochrosite on Manganite (circa 1970s)

Wessels Mine has produced, in the days back (1970s), some of the sparkliest of Kalahari rhodochrosite, although they are often forgotten when compared to their dominating cousins from NChwaning with the bigger individual crystals. Here is a large, sparkling, small cabinet sized matrix piece of manganese ore (what the Kalahari is mined for!), absolutely coated with sparkly round clusters of red-pink rhodochrosite. Hundreds of small crystals are in tightly compacted clusters, to 1 cm or so, and the piece just has a scintillating look to it, like glass sparkles. Unusual, old style - and very beautiful!
