Item Description

Rhodochrosite from this ancient iron and manganese mine closed in 1928 is a German classic. A rind of translucent, rich rose-red, bubbly botryoids with a few areas of lighter rhodo covers the large matrix on this very rich and fine example from this historic locale. The botryoids GLOW, when backlit. Nearly pristine, with just a bit of bruising and periphery wear. A exceptional and rich large old-time example from the Bob Trimingham Collection. Formerly in the Dr. Schmidt (1870-1925) and Kaar Collections. Valued at $1250.
