Item Description

The famous Wolf Mine in Siegerland, Germany Siegerland is noted for having produced the finest crystallized rhodochrosite specimens in Europe and for many years were considered the finest in world. The mine operated continuosly from 1870 to 1925 and then sporadically until 1962. Good specimens are today quite difficult to find. This very fine and showy old-timer features juicy, translucent, rose-red botryoids to about 6 mm attractively lining and filling numerous vugs in the banded limonitic and sulfide ore matrix. The primary vug is in excellent condition. Some bruising can be seen in some of the other vugs, but overall, I think this in very good condition. Classic, old-time material from this noted locale. the former dealer label has a $1500 price! I have seen such prices at the Munich show on this material. Ex Russell Jones Collection. valued $500-750
