Item Description
Juicy, translucent, brownish-red rhodochrosite botryoids line the undulating vug on this rich, excellent and rare varietal from the famous Hotazel Mine. This reddish-brown color is RARE from here. Rare and excellent Hotazel Mine rhodo from the 1960s or early 1970s. The luminous luster is remarkable and the piece really lights up, when back lit! Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 9643 and acquired from Lidstrom's in August, 1982. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
