Item Description

Oppu Mine rhodochrosite is a signature and sought-after species from Japan. It is famous for beautiful banded mammillary rhodochrosite specimens, such as this very fine piece. Pretty rose-red, translucent bubbly botryoids cover the sulfide matrix on this rich and aesthetic example, that displays well without aid. This historic mine, first opened in the late 1600s has recovered silver, copper, lead, zinc, cadmium and banded rhodochrosite as lapidary material into the 1980s! This is undoubtedly older material dating from before World War II to over 100 years ago! Value??
