Rhodochrosite (mined 1978 by Rich Kosnar and Dave Bergman)

For those who don't know, Richard Kosnar mined the Sweet Home for a few years during the late 1970's and managed to collect some excellent Rhodo specimens. This piece is from one of the last pockets that Rich and his mine foreman Dave Bergman (Brian Kosnar's maternal grandfather) opened before they were done at the mine. This piece features a lovely pink-red color rhombohedron of Rhodochrosite with a bit of attached matrix. This mine is now shut down, and may never produce these world class quality Rhodochrosite specimens again. I don't have to tell you that these pieces are selling for top dollar across the board. A worthwhile reference specimen of Rhodochrosite from this most classic of localities.
