Sweet Home Mine is THE classic USA rhodochrosite locale, despite others that are older. This is a huge rhodochrosite crystal from one of the last pockets of the old Sweet Home Mine, found before its closure. It is big, robust, and has a rich strawberry color. It is also, somewhat surprisingly, without the repairs and/or restorations commonly seen on crystals of this size from this location. It is intact, and complete. When backlit, it glows with a rich color and is gorgeous on a shelf. The tradeoff to all these pluses, is that the luster is average, not sparkly or shiny on the surface. Different rhodo's look best in different lighting environments. So, if you can get a backlight on it, this huge crystal becomes a glowing stoplight of color on a shelf. At 220 grams, it is NOT small!
