Item Description

These unique and attractive Rhodochrosite specimens were mined in the late 2000s, but they all seem to have dried up now. Very little has been seen from the Wutong Mine in recent years, and it's s shame, because these are beautiful and distinctive crystals of a beloved species. This piece is an impressive, large, notably compressed rhombic crystal with a rich reddish-pink color, free of matrix. The piece is nearly a complete "floater" as it's crystallized all around, and it shows a rich warm hue when backlit. You don't see Rhodochrosite crystals over 3 inches from virtually any locality, even the world-famous Sweet Home Mine didn't produce many Rhodos this size. Don't pass this one up because the locality has produced little to nothing in the way of specimens in recent years. Priced at $3,500 in our inventory.
