Item Description
Rich cherry-red gem rhodochrosite crystals to 1.2 cm are aesthetically clustered on matrix and are nicely accented with a couple of near colorless cuboctahedral fluorites on this very showy and aesthetic thumbnail from the famous 1970s and 80s finds at the Potosi Mine. Choice and classic material with very richly colored crystals from the Kay Robertson Collection # 7453. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Old material from the Willard Perkin colelction or dealer stock (note the label on his TN box). He is generally credited as the inventor of the "Perky box" for standard thumbnails display.
