Item Description

A SUPERB rhodochrosite miniature from the famous Hotazel Mine of South Africa. The super sparkly, very gemmy, dark cherry-red rhodo micro-scalenohedrons cover the matrix and what we believe is a large calcite rhomb on this striking specimen. We do not believe it is a pseudomorph, nor do we believe that this is a barite crystal. As you can see, the rhodo-coated is crystal is complete all-around and is pristine. None of us here have ever seen a South African rhodo like this amazing piece. We think, that the piece is from the Hotazel Mine and dates to the late 1960s or early 1970s. Ex Jaime Bird Collection and comes with a Lidstrom"s label. Fairly valued at $2000, we think.
