Item Description

A 2.3 cm, compound rhodochrosite crystal is pleasingly set in a vug at the end of a wedge of massive milky quartz, rhodochrosite and sulfides on this showy specimen from the famous Sunnyside Mine. The translucent, pretty rose-red crystal has frosted faces. One side of the crystal is cleaved, but is out-of-sight in the primary display view. Classic and excellent material from this famous Colorado locale. A recent Lithographie issue is devoted entirely to minerals of the San Juans. Ex Gerald Herfurth Collection. valued $1000-1200
