Item Description

A very attractive Rhodochrosite from Santa Eulalia and a different style than we're used to seeing. The Rhodos themselves have a typical vitreous / pearly luster that is often observed from this famous area, but what makes the piece truly special is that the crystals have formed in semi-stalactitic growths, which is rather rare for the species and the locality. Nearly every "finger" on the specimen is undamaged, though there are a few imperfections here and there. The largest individual growth measures 1.7 cm long. This particular specimen is very good for what it is and makes for an impressive display specimen of this now truly hard to find material. A really eye-catching and excellent quality specimen that most Rhodochrosite collectors do not have a good representation in their collections. Priced at $800 retail by the previous dealer, but I would put it closer to $1,000 honestly.. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X102-4)
