Item Description

A showy and uncommon rhodochrosite combination from the famous Sweet Home Mine, with a surprise at the end! Gemmy cherry-red rhombs, to 1.3 cm on edge, attractively course across the left side of the piece and are scattered elsewhere on the quartz and sulfide matrix plate. Gemmy, blue-gray with green interiors fluorite cubes, to 1.2 cm, are nicely scattered amongst the quartz points along with brassy pyrite crystals and metallic-gray tetrahedrite crystals. The SURPRISE, visible only under UV light, are the richly scattered films of fluorapatite, that glow yellow-orange. The look like quartz films under a hand lenses. The rhodos on the right side of the piece are bruised or cleaved. This remains a very showy, unusual and highly representative combination example of the species and renowned locale. Valued $1250
