Item Description
These classic Rhodochrosite specimens from the Eagle mine are some of the most recognizable and attractive Rhodos from Colorado. They are not the typical blocky rhombic habit like those seen from the Sweet Home, but rather highly compressed rhombs that usually form beautiful "rosettes". This piece comprises dozens of sharp, muted pink color flattened rhombohedra of Rhodochrosite with Pyrite on the reverse side. The color in these crystals is due to the presence of iron, which is why they are not entirely pink. This mine is long defunct and will never produce these specimens again. They are highly prized among Colorado collectors for their unique form and obvious beauty. For the size, the good condition of the piece, and the fact that they are almost never seen for sale on the market anymore, this is a great opportunity to obtain a nice display specimen of this classic Colorado material.
