Rhodochrosite (excellent large crystal)

This locality is the premier Rhodochrosite locale in Greece, known for occasionally producing some excellent large crystals. If you do some research, you'll see a good amount of these pieces from this mine are either botryoidal/spherical or are composed of small crystal aggregates, but the most desirable pieces are the large, sharp, well-formed rhombs. This piece is a great example of said material as it's a euhedral rhombic crystal with smooth, defined faces and a baby pink color. There is a secondary overgrowth of smaller crystalline Rhodochrosite to create a eye-catching textured effect. The piece is in fine condition on the front, but it's incomplete on the back where it detached from the pocket wall. If you collect worldwide Rhodochrosites, these specimens are a must have, and this is a great chance to pick one up for a bargain price. The piece is priced at $3,500 retail in our inventory.
