Item Description

For those who don't know, Brian Kosnar's father, Richard mined the Sweet Home for a few years during the late 1970's and managed to collect some excellent Rhodo specimens. This piece is from one of the last pockets that Rich and his mine foreman Dave Bergman (Brian Kosnar's maternal grandfather) opened before they were done at the mine. This piece features sharp pink-red color rhombohedra of Rhodochrosite measuring up to 7 mm with a few smaller Rhodos sitting on "needle" Quartz matrix. This mine is now completely defunct, and will never produce these world class quality Rhodochrosite specimens again. I don't have to tell you that these pieces are selling for top dollar across the board. A worthwhile thumbnail specimen of Rhodochrosite from this most classic of localities.
