Item Description
This piece is from a 2005 discovery at the N'Chwaning III Mine in South Africa, where Rhodochrosite is not as common as the other two mines. It hosts eye-catching spherical / botryoidal aggregates of sparkling orange-pink Rhodochrosite on a somewhat oxidized matrix. The pieces looks very similar to the old specimens from Santa Eulalia, Mexico in terms of color, form and even the matrix. Very showy, no damage (outside of the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall) and it displays beautifully on its own without the aid of a base or clay.
