Item Description
An attractive small cabinet display specimen of the uncommon Rhodochrosites from the Raura District in Peru. This piece features a coverage of soft pink colored, "saddle"-shaped and compressed rhombohedra of Rhodochrosite sitting atop the underlying Quartz matrix. I can see tiny crystals of sulfides (Sphalerite, Pyrite, etc.) with a loupe. Good condition all around, save around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. Most of these came out in the 1970s, with very few since A nice example of these well-known specimens. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X20-7).
