Item Description
An attractive toenail display specimen of the classic Rhodochrosites from the famous Uchuccchacua Mine. These are quite distinctive in habit and color, and certainly some of the most recognizable Rhodos from any locality, not only in Peru but in the world. This piece features several good quality, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, rich pinkish-red colored modified scalenohedral crystals measuring up to 8 mm associated with minor Quartz on matrix. There are some contacts on this piece, particularly around the edges where it was removed from the pocket wall, but the upper portion does features a few crystals which are in good shape. A nice example of these well-known specimens. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X25-6).
