Item Description

A classic matrix display specimen of Rhodochrosite from Santa Eulalia. The finest specimens of Rhodochrosite were found at Santa Eulalia, and it's easy to see why. This piece features several very sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy, beautiful reddish-pink colored highly modified / stepped scalenohedral crystals sitting in a vug on matrix. The largest individual crystal (which is cleaved) measures 1.6 cm long, but the largest undamaged composite group measures 1.1 cm. Despite the broken crystal, the quality is still very good, and this is still a lovely display specimen of this hard to find material. Because these specimens came out years ago, a lot of collectors don't have one in their collections, and if you collect Rhodochrosite, this is a great opportunity to pick up a nice piece for a good price from this prestigious locality and collection. Priced at $500 retail. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X27)
