Item Description

Casapalca Rhodochrosites are rare on the market, especially these days, as the best specimens came out in the late 1980s. This attractive specimen features very sharp, well-formed, gemmy, rich, pinkish-red colored compressed rhombohedra of Rhodochrosite measuring up to 6 mm sitting on contrasting black manganese-bearing matrix. The outer edges of the Rhodo group are contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall, but the central crystals are fine quality and incredibly lustrous for the material! The largest crystal measures 6 mm across.. A very attractive and fine quality example of this classic material from Peru. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X22-1).
