Item Description
This mine has produced some very well known Rhodochrosite specimens in its history. The best pieces from the Sunnyside are only second in Colorado to the famous Sweet Home pieces in terms of quality. This piece hosts attractive, sharp, rhombs of soft pink colored Rhodochrosite with Quartz forming a great miniature specimen. The largest Rhodochrosite crystal measures 5 mm. A good overal specimen for any collector of Rhodochrosites or specimens from Colorado from this well known mine in the San Juan Mountains. This piece was mined by and came from the personal collection of Dave Bergman. Dave is a Colorado miner (the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s) and the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
