Item Description

This mine has produced some very well known Rhodochrosite specimens in its history. This wonderful large cabinet piece hosts hundreds of small attractive, sharp, rhombs of pink colored Rhodochrosite which are sitting on a plate of crystallized milky Quartz with minor Sphalerite. The largest Rhodochrosite crystal measures about 1 mm across. An eye-catching specimen for any collector of Rhodochrosites or specimens from Colorado from this well known mine in the San Juan Mountains. The piece comes with a label stating that it was found in the H0857 ramp of the American Tunnel, but that's a generic term that people used for specimens that came out of the Sunnyside Mine. The label also states that the piece originally belonged to Tony Jones and was collected by Douglas Graeme. From the collection of Brian Kosnar, valued at $1500.
