Item Description
The Champion mine is well known to Colorado collectors, but specimens are SELDOM available on the market, let alone beautiful thumbnails such as this one. If you're a Colorado collector or a Rhodochrosite collector, be sure not to miss out on this one. The piece features dozens of sharp, soft pink color, well-formed rhombohedra of Rhodochrosite on beautifully contrasting Quartz matrix with black Sphalerite. The largest rhomb measures 6 mm, and under high magnification, you can see small Chalcopyrite crystals gently sprinkled throughout the surface of the Rhodos. There are also some additional Chalcopyrites that can be seen under magnifiaction. This is certainly a worthwhile specimen from this hard to find locality in southwestern Colorado!
