Item Description

A brecciated matrix hosts a thin coating of botryoidal, lustrous, rich pink rhodochrosite. The botryoids average 5 to 7 mm across. I particularly like the sculptural quality of the specimen when held upright - most Broken Hill rhodochrosites are simply ugly, but this one sparkles, and has interesting shape and color. These are both old, and rarely seen on the modern market. Note a previous label has a $3500 price although frankly I think that is ridiculous - but there it is, and what a dedicated rhodo collector paid for it at one time. Ex. Dr. W.S. Logan Collection.
