Item Description
Rhodochrosite gems are probably most well known from the Sweet Home mine in Colorado or perhaps N'Chwaning, South Africa, but there are very extensive Rhodochrosite deposits in Argentina that produce some very attractive gems in their own right. The material is not often gemmy enough for faceting stones, but it does have great color. This particular stone is a beautiful rich pink and white "Oval Cabochon" cut gem with good translucency, and nice banding showing how it grew in stalagtitic formations. I particularly like the "bull's eye" effect in the center of the stone, and for the $100 starting bid, it's price below wholesale! Retail value is $269.25.
