Rhodochrosite (classic material) (ex Dave Bergman Collection)

Item Description

A wonderful older specimen from the famous Sunnyside Mine, which was the premier locality for Rhodochrosite in Colorado before the Sweet Home was actively producing specimens. This piece features classic, sharp, rhombic pink crystals of Rhodochrosite measuring up to 1.0 cm, sitting on a matrix of mixed sugary white Quartz and sulfides (Galena, Sphalerite and Pyrite). The piece is in fairly good shape, though some roughness can be seen in areas. These pieces are hard to find on the market now, and are sought after by collectors from this historic and important San Juan locality in Colorado. Ex Dave Bergman Collection. Dave is a Colorado miner (formerly the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s) and the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar.
