Item Description

N'Chwaning Rhodochrosites are some of the most beloved examples of the species ever found. They are without question the finest examples of gem red scalenohedral crystals in the world, with their intense color, beautiful form and superb display specimens. This attractive miniature specimen is a wonderful crystallized "spray" of deep flame red colored scalenohedra of Rhodochrosite tightly intergrown and free of matrix. The combination of the intense color with the fantastic internal gemminess (best seen when backlit) along with the "wet" luster makes the piece glow and sparkle when rotated in the light. There are a few minor blemishes, but the piece is in excellent condition overall. If you're a fan of worldwide Rhodochrosite, or if you've always wanted one of these iconic specimens from this famous locality in South Africa, don't miss out on this beauty. This particular style is not common from the N'Chwaning Mines, and haven't been found for decades. Priced in the inventory at $4,000.
