Item Description
A classic example of these highly desirable and beautiful Rhodochrosites from the N'Chwaning Mines in South Africa. These specimens feature some of the most intensely colored examples of the species, and the wonderful "dogtooth" scalenohedral habit is iconic. This miniature sized piece is filled with vivid flame red colored, sharp, lustrous, gemmy crystals measuring up to 6 mm sitting on black Manganite matrix. The vast majority of the Rhodos are undamaged, but the periphery is forgivably contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. These specimens are among the most sought after examples of Rhodochrosite from any world locality, and miniature sized matrix pieces like this are certainly valued by dealers and collectors alike.
