Item Description
A strikingly aesthetic large miniature of very unusual style and crystallization habit. The juicy, deep cherry-red crystals have high luster and translucence. The crystals are much more complex than what you normally see on rhodochrosite from this mine. There are a few "normal" scalenohedrons present. The impressive, large crystal is 2.5 cm tall. Moreover, the few of this habit I have seen, have been just single crystals or lumpy masses. Periphery wear is noted, but the interor is pristine. This impressive large miniature really stands up in the spectrum of such pieces. This would have been mined in 1978-1982 range. Valued at $3000 and worth it
