Item Description
How often does one see a nearly 14-inch Rhodochrosite specimen from the Sweet Home mine on the market!? This piece is a great association specimen from the mine that produced the world's finest quality Rhodochrosites. This GIGANTIC display specimen features gemmy, red/pink, sharp rhombic crystals of Rhodochrosite measuring up to 1.5 cm, but the most attractive aspect of this specimen is the fact that it is associated with modified green Fluorite crystals, along with Pyrite, Chalcopyrite, Sphalerite, Tetrahedrite and Quartz. That's a minimum of SEVEN species on the same specimen, and there could possibly be more under close inspection. Typically, if one has three or four species together on the same specimen from the Sweet Home, it's a fair amount, but this piece has double that amount which just adds to the allure of a piece from a world famous (and now defunct) locality. The piece itself is HEAVY (it weighs just over 12 pounds or approximately 5.5 kilograms), and there will be a significant additional shipping charge to the winner of this piece. Valued at $4500 retail for the impressive size. Enjoy.
