Rhodochrosite and Fluorite on Pyrite (ex Dave Bergman Collection)

A really cool association specimen from the famous Sunnyside Mine. Arguably the most desirable combination from this mine is to have Rhodochrosite with green Fluorite on matrix. This piece features both green (albeit very pale) with pink Rhodochrosite, but the matrix is rarely seen PYRITE! Typically, the Rhodo and Fluorite crystals will form on Quartz matrix, and to find the two species on Pyrite is exciting and rare in my experience. The Rhodochrosite crystals measure up to 3 mm, and the Fluorites are just a bit smaller. A really interesting and highly sought after rare combo from this historic and important San Juan locality in Colorado. Ex Dave Bergman Collection. Dave is a Colorado miner (formerly the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s) and the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar.
