Item Description
Sharp, drusy quartz-covered rhodochrosite rhombs, to 1.7 cm on the diagonal, are very aesthetically scattered on the 3-dimensional, drusy quartz-covered matrix on this very fine small cabinet combination from the famous Sunnyside Mine. The lustrous rhombs are a very pretty rose-pink and the scattered tiny brassy chalcopyrites are a nice accent. The primary crystal cluster is pristine. Two of the smaller rhombs have lightly brushed corners and the basal, tabular rhomb is cleaved, but has no impact to the overall high quality of this fine piece. Ex Don Boydston Collection, a noted California collector whose collection recently surfaced after disappearing for a number of decades. Comes with a faded Walt Lidstrom label, with a May, 1966 date on the back and purchased at the Las Vegas Show. Valued at $1800. Classic and excellent Colorado rhodochrosite.
