Item Description

This piece was erroneously labeled as coming from the Noche Buena Mine in Zacatecas, but it's 100% from the Potosí Mine in Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua. Good Mexican Rhodochrosite specimens are few and far between these days, but certainly sought after. This piece is certainly old material, and beautiful for the species. It hosts eye-catching spherical / botryoidal aggregates of sparkling vivid pink Rhodochrosite on contrasting dark reddish-brown matrix. The largest "ball" measures 5 mm across. If you're a Rhodo collector, a Mexican mineral collector, or a if you just like colorful display pieces from less common localities, this piece is for you. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
