Item Description

Rhodochrosite specimens from the famous finds of the 1970s and 80s from the El Potosi Mine at Santa Eulalia are a Mexican classic. Two, stout, tapered cherry-red gemmy scalenohedrons, to 1.0 cm, are jauntily perched atop the sulfide matrix on this showy thumbnail. The highly lustrous rhodos have dense stepped-growth faces, adding pizzazz. The gently cleaved areas on both crystals are noted, but this remains an excellent and highly representative thumbnail example of the species and famous locale.
