Item Description

A classic specimen of the most famous Rhodochrosite in the world. The Sweet Home Mine is one of the most iconic localities extant due to its production of the finest quality red rhombic Rhodochrosite out there. This piece is from the early mining done by Collector's Edge (possibly from the Hedgehog pocket) featuring sharp, lustrous, gemmy, reddish-pink rhombs of Rhodochrosite measuring up to 6 mm associated with white "needle" Quartz and minor sulfides on matrix. Only a spot of damage here and there, but in great shape overall. I don't have to tell you that the value of these specimens keeps rising, and even smaller pieces like this are becoming harder to find on the market as the mine is completely closed down, and may never produce these specimens again.
