Item Description
This is the best quality Rhodochrosite from the Philipsburg District that I think we've had to offer in the auctions. It is filled with good quality, sharp, rich pink color rhombohedra that measure up to a few mm on host rock matrix. Good quality all around, and when I compare it to others I've seen from this area, I would say that the crystals certainly compare favorably. The piece was probably mined around the 1940s-1950s.
