Rhodochrosite

A gorgeous, 1.4 cm, doubly terminated, gemmy and lustrous, cherry-red rhodocrhosite scalenohedron is focal point of this very showy specimen. The Uchucchacua mine has produced some of the finest quality rhodochrosite specimens around. This miniature size specimen hosts additional, isolated crystals in the contrasting sulfide covered vug. A bit of periphery wear is noted, but has minimal impact. A nice sample of this well known material from Peru. Very little new material has come out in the last few years.
