The various Manganese deposits in South Africa has produced some of the most impressive Rhodochrosite specimens with the classic and beautiful red color, but gems are becoming very difficult to obtain these days. With that said, this is one of the better stones of Rhodo from South Afrcia that I have had to offer in a long time. The stone is remarkably clean and gemmy for the material (especially in this size) and the color is a beautiful fiery red-orange hue. The stone has an "Oval" cut, and is certainly one of the largest South Africa Rhodo gems that I have handled. This is a very attractive stone, and the area that produced this material is completely defunct. Don't miss out on this fantastic collector quality gem.
