The quality of Chinese rhodochrosite from the Wudong Mine keeps getting better and better and this is an excellent example. A large, flattened, rhomb has excellent luster, translucency and bright cherry-red color. The primary faces are lightly frosted on both sides. One of the edge faces is terminated on this showy triangular specimen, while the other two faces are cleaved. A highly representative and large crystal of the species and locale.
