Item Description

Rhodochrosite is certainly one of the most popular species for collectors, and while the excellent specimens from places like the Sweet Home Mine or the N'Chwaning Mines in South Africa deserve praise for their superb quality and color, the Santa Eulalia District in Mexico produced a good number of fine and attractive specimens. This piece is a showy small cabinet featuring a stout, scalenohedral Rhodochrosite crystal measuring 1.8 cm, with a whitish-pink hue in the center, and bright gemmy reddish-pink tones on the termination. Despite some embedded matrix, I can't really find any damage. The piece sits nicely on its own without a base or clay.
