Item Description
China has produced a large number of fine quality display species, especially of well-known species over the last two decades. These distinctive Rhodochrosite specimens from the Wutong Mine were collected in the late 2000s, and very few of them are available on the market now. Their distinctive crystal form and enticing color makes them some of the more notable Rhodochrosite crystals from any contemporary locality. This piece is a rather compressed rhombic crystal with a rich reddish-pink color, free of matrix. The piece is mostly complete but one edge does have a cleave where it presumably detached from the matrix. When backlit, it has a very pleasant reddish-pink hue internally. If you missed out on these, don't pass this one up because the locality has produced nothing in the way of specimens in recent years.
